Meet Danny Rubin — Author and Communications Expert

Danny Rubin headshotWe’re excited to introduce you to Danny Rubin, author, communications expert, and the man behind our workshop on February 24 at Central Library in Virginia Beach: 5 Game-Changing Emails that Will Land Clients. We recently sat down with Danny to talk about his work and ask him a few questions about what he has planned for his workshop. There are still a few spots left, so register today!

Where: Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA, 23452
When: Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 6-8 p.m.

AIGA HR: How long have you been in the communications field and how did you get your start?

Danny Rubin: I have worked in the communications field for 10 years (since I graduated from college). I began as a TV reporter at WTKR NewsChannel 3 as a general assignment reporter. I then moved to Washington, DC and worked for a media research and strategy firm called Frank Magid Associates. In that role, I consulted with clients like NBC, MSNBC, Gannett (which owns USA TODAY) and UnitedHealthcare. In 2013, I moved back to Virginia Beach and am now vice president of Rubin Communications Group, a full-service PR and marketing firm. My efforts with my blog and book are a “side hustle,” and I work on them as the day allows.

AIGA HR: What does your day-to-day workflow look like and how would you describe it to others?

Danny: I spend the majority of my day working with clients and overseeing business development at Rubin Communications Group. As I have time in the day (or in the mornings/evenings), I plug away on marketing my book, Wait, How Do I Write This Email?, a collection of 100+ templates for networking, the job search and LinkedIn. I make to-do lists constantly and keep myself in check on what I need to accomplish.

AIGA HR: What do you hope people will take away from your presentation and workshop?

Danny: Strong writing skills can have a major impact on how well we network, apply for jobs and present ourselves in a professional manner. Most people are average writers; those who hone the craft will stand out from the competition.

AIGA HR: How can we follow your work and get in touch with you?

Danny: My book is available now on Amazon (paperback and Kindle). You can also follow my blog, News To Live By, in which I highlight the career advice “hidden” in the latest headlines. I’m also on Twitter at @DannyHRubin.
