AIGA Hampton Roads Design Scholarship Fund

AIGA Hampton Roads is committed to supporting students pursuing creative fields in our community. Our primary aim in establishing a scholarship fund is to increase diversity in creative professions and make design resources and careers more accessible to all.

The AIGA Hampton Roads Design Scholarship will award a one time gift of $2,000 to a student enrolled in a Hampton Roads area design program. Each scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient to assist with any tuition or design tool related expenses at the discretion of the recipient.

Scholarship recipients are selected not only for work submission and need but also for their demonstrated commitment to giving back to the larger community through their work.

The application process opens November 21, 2022 and closes January 31, 2023. The final award recipient will be announced on February 25th, 2023.

Eligibility:
Students must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate design-related degree in a Hampton Roads area program and be in good standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Design-related degrees include the following disciplines: visual communications, graphic design, illustration, photography, multimedia design, UX/UI design or another closely related field.

Application Process:
Applicants will submit the online form along with one of the following, a brief 500-max word essay, short video, or Pecha Kucha on an inspirational design figure (contemporary or historical), work, or topic. A statement of need and benefit of the scholarship should be included.
